Tourism promoter Promo Salento has been charged for selling fake reviews on TripAdvisor. The owner of Promo Salento has been sentenced to nine months in prison and fined €8,000 by an Italian court. Acting as a civil claimant for prosecution, TripAdvisor shared evidence from their own investigation including letters received by business owners from Promo Salento with offers to write fake reviews for a fee.
