Bob Blackman, a British MP, spoke in the support of the presence of the Indian Army in Jammu and Kashmir during a discussion in the House of Commons. "It is only the Indian Army and the sound footing of the Indian military democracy that has stopped the region of Jammu and Kashmir from resembling Taliban-occupied Afghanistan," Blackman said. He added that Islamist forces "will eliminate democracy in J&K" if the troops are withdrawn.
