Sources from the Union Health Ministry have said that as many as 10 Indian states have strains of the novel coronavirus with "double mutations". The states having the double mutant strain of Covid include Maharashtra, Delhi, West Bengal, Gujarat, Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh. The national capital also has the UK mutant. The Health Ministry, however, was not clear that the double mutants are responsible for the surge in cases.
