The government in the Philippines has extended the lockdown in the country amid a sudden surge in coronavirus cases in the country. President Rodrigo Duterte ordered strict lockdowns in Manila and four other provinces. The daily Covid cases have breached the 10,000-mark in the country. Holy Week and Easter events were shifted online by Roman Catholic leaders amid a surge in Covid cases. Mass gatherings have also been banned.
