The Indonesian government has extended nationwide coronavirus curbs amid a surge in Covid deaths in the country. The new restrictions would apply to several important cities from Sumatra island in the west to easternmost Papua. "Cases are also rising in other regions and we need to pay attention to the availability of hospitals there," said senior minister Airlangga Hartarto while announcing the extension of the restrictions.
