Cuba gives emergency use authorisation to home-grown Abdala vaccine

Cuba has given its approval to the home-grown Abdala vaccine for emergency use. It is the first Latin American coronavirus vaccine to reach this stage. The makers claimed the vaccine to be 92 percent effective at preventing Covid-19 disease. The country is working on five more coronavirus vaccines. Abdala and Soberana 2 are being used to inoculate the Cuban population. 6.8 million Cubans have received at least 1 dose.
