India logs 5,221 fresh COVID-19 cases in last 24 hours

India reported 5,221 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, according to data from the health ministry as of 8 am today. The daily cases increased by nearly three per cent from the previous day, when 5,076 people tested positive for the virus. Active cases declined by 769 in the past 24 hours, taking the total active caseload to 47,176.
