India records 16,156 fresh Covid-19 cases, highest daily surge since October 23

India records as many as 16,156 fresh Covid-19 cases, 733 deaths in the last 24 hours. This was the highest single-day surge in Covid-19 cases since October 23. The daily deaths also surged significantly. The total number of recoveries and Covid-related deaths in the country increased to 33,614,434 and 456,386 respectively. The active cases in the country stand at 160,989 and account for 0.48% of the total cases.
