The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies said Indonesia was "on the verge of a Covid-19 catastrophe" as the number of cases increased in June. Indonesia's Health Minister, Budi Gunadi Sadikin, stated earlier this month that the country has experienced a "dramatic spike in confirmed cases" during the Christmas holidays. He attributed the rapid-spreading Delta variation to the explosion in instances.
