Indonesia's Sumatra struck by 6.6 magnitude earthquake

The west coast of Indonesia's Sumatra island was hit by a 6.6-magnitude earthquake on Friday. The United States Geological Survey shared the news of the earthquake. The first tremors of the quake were recorded at 12:30 near the island of Nias, about 250 kilometres south of Sinabang. Sumatra is an earthquake-prone area that has witnessed many earthquakes in the past. Sumatra was hit by a 9.1 magnitude earthquake and Tsunami in 2004.
