Moderna readies South African strain-specific vaccine, ships it for testing

US-based drug manufacturer Moderna has successfully prepared a new Covid vaccine that can provide safety against the strain that emerged in South Africa. The firm has shipped the vaccine doses to the US National Institutes of Health for testing. "We look forward to beginning the clinical study of our variant booster and are grateful for the NIH's continued collaboration to combat this pandemic," said CEO Stephane Bancel.
