South African health minister warns of third wave amid rise in Covid cases
Amid a rapid surge in Coronavirus cases in the country, South African Health Minister Zweli Mkhize has warned the provinces of a third wave of the pandemic. "The numbers will no longer go down other than if we start intensive containment measures," Mkhize said. South Africa reported 2,759 new cases on Wednesday, taking the active caseload to over 1.6 million. The death toll in the country has reached 54,968.
