According to a joint study by WHO and the International Labour Organization, thousands of people lose their lives every year due to long working hours. The study published in the journal Environment International shows that 745,000 people died from stroke and heart disease in 2016 and these deaths were linked to long working hours. "Working 55 hours or more per week is a serious health hazard," said Maria Neira of WHO.
