As several countries across the world are witnessing a fresh surge in Covid cases fuelled by the highly contagious Delta variant, the World Health Organisation chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has said the world is in the early stages of the third wave of Covid. "Unfortunately...we are now in the early stages of a third wave", Ghebreyesus said. He said the Delta variant is expected to be "the dominant COVID-19 strain."
