SC issued notice to EC on plea by 21 political parties over VVPATs

The Supreme court has issued a notice to the Election Commission based on a petition filed by the leaders of 21 political parties including Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu seeking paper trails and audits of votes cast through the electronic voting machines. The petitioners have asked for Voter Verifiable Paper Trail in more than 50% of the votes cast through the EVMs. The SC will hear the matter again on March 25.
