Anupam Kher, Zoya Akhtar, Anurag Kashyap among 842 members invited by The Academy

In a bid to become more inclusive and globally focused, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences invited 842 artists from as many as 59 countries to join The Academy this year. Bollywood veteran actor Anupam Kher, Ace filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, Zoya Akhtar, are among artists invited to join the directors' branch. The organisation also disclosed that 29 percent of the new invitees are people of colour.
