Mardaani 2 director Gopi Putran issued an apology to the residents of Kota and said that Kota has been used as the setting for the film and that there was no intention to tarnish the reputation of the city. The trailer of the Ranu Mukerji starrer thriller film irked the residents of Kota soon after its release. "Mardaani 2 at the end of the day is a film and not a documentary and it should be seen as that," Putran said.
