A 120-year-old lighthouse in Denmark, Rubjerg Knude is at risk from North Sea erosion and shifting sands. When it was first lit, it was roughly 200 m from the coast; now that distance shrank to 6 metres. The lighthouse was moved with the help of rails & wheels at a speed of 8 metres an hour due to the risk of erosion. The Danish environment minister called the lighthouse a national treasure to justify the money spent on it.
