14% of the US population comprised of immigrants: Survey

As per the data by US Census Board, 14% of the population of the US is comprised of immigrants (legal and illegal both). This means 1 out of 7 residents of US is foreign-born. Talking about the numbers, it increased by 8 lakh in 2016 to 44.5 million in 2017,i.e., an increase of 1.8%. While in 1980, the survey said that 1 out of 16 US residents was foreign-born. Most immigrants were from India with 8.30 lakh, before China.
