Indian-American Abhijit Banerjee, wife Duflo and Kreme wins Nobel Prize in Economics

The 2019 Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel has been awarded to Abhijit Banerjee, Esther Duflo and Michael Kremer for their experimental approach to alleviating global poverty. With this honour, Esther Duflo become a second female winner of the Nobel prize in economics, 50 years after it was first awarded. Abhijit Banerjee was born in India and has a PhD from Harvard University.
