Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani said that as many as 577 children across the country were orphaned due to coronavirus since April 1. "Government of India is committed to support and protect every vulnerable child due to loss of both parents to Covid-19," the minister said. She further said that the orphan children are not abandoned and the respective district authorities are taking care of them.
