5,865 coronavirus cases in India so far, death toll reaches 169

India has recorded 5,865 cases of the novel coronavirus, according to the latest tally of the government. The death toll due to the pandemic has reached 169 while 477 people have been discharged. As per health ministry, India reports 549 new cases, 17 deaths in 24 hours. Globally, the death toll surpassed 88,965, the number of infections have crossed 1,524,833. Odisha today became the first state to extend the lockdown till April 30.
