The Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India, Viral Acharya, has resigned from his post, 6 months before the end of his tenure. He joined RBI in 2017. He is returning to New York University Stern School of Business in August, instead of February 2020, as the CV Starr Professor of Economics. Now there are 3 deputy governors remaining in the top bank. He joined RBI at the time it was being criticized for its policies.
