7 rare species of bats discovered in Kerala, names to be announced soon

7 rare bat species have been discovered in Kerala by the Munnar Wildlife Division during a bat survey in Idukki. During the survey, a total of 20 species of bats were spotted out of which 17 are insectivorous bats while the remaining 3 species are fruit bats. Soon the team, who discovered the new species in Munnar will announce the names of these newly found species. The survey was done with the help of advanced bat detectors.
