As per a study in Delhi, 9.46 million tonnes of plastic waste generated by India annually. This accounts for 40% remains uncollected and 43% of which is used for packaging that too for single use. More than 8.3 billion tonnes of plastic has been produced since 1950. 60% of that has ended up in landfills or in the natural environment. PM Modi also has encouraged new mass movement" against single-use plastic in India.
