About 45 % of Pakistan's 5th-grade students can’t read English: ASER Report

In a shameful revelation made by the Annual Status of Education Report, in Pakistan, it has come to public knowledge that about 45 % of children studying in the fifth standard in the country’s rural areas cannot read English meant for students of Class 2. However, 59 percent of fifth-grade students in rural areas can read stories in Urdu and other local languages, according to what the ASER data shows.
