African Swine Fever kills 25,000 pigs in Mizoram, causes loss worth Rs. 121 crore

More than 25,000 pigs have died in Mizoram in the last 5 months due to the African Swine Fever. This has led to the state incurring losses worth over Rs. 121 crore since March. According to the state animal husbandry and veterinary science department, 9,458 pigs have been culled so far. According to Dr. Lalhmingthanga, the Joint Director (Livestock Health) of the department, 239 villages are affected by the ASF outbreak.
