After American distance runner Paul Chelimo posted photographs stating the cardboard mattresses "aimed at preventing intimacy among participants," the new "anti-sex" beds have become a hot topic during the Tokyo Olympics. The organisers have stated, however, that the mattresses in the Olympic Village are "sturdy." They made the remark after Irish gymnast Rhys McClenaghan videotaped himself repeatedly leaping on a bed to illustrate his case.
