Amritsar people complained of 'loud bang', police said it was sonic booms of IAF jets

Early on Friday, the people of Amritsar, Punjab reported hearing two loud bangs. Many people claimed sounds like blasts and heightened air activity. The officials have said that it was supersonic of the Indian fighter jets near the border. The IAF jets were conducting an exercise there. Sonic booms happen by shock waves when an object travels through the air faster than the speed of sound.
