Two of Australia's biggest newspaper rivals, The News Corp Australia and Nine mastheads printed blacked-out text beside red stamps marked "secret" on the first page, to mark their joint protest against the press restrictions. The protest was aimed towards the national security laws which according to some journalists, have created a "culture of secrecy" in Australia. The government said that "no one is above the law".
