Biggest ever Direct Benefit scheme launched by Assam government, 22 lakh families to be covered

The Bhartiya Janta Party-led Assam government on Tuesday launched the biggest-ever Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) scheme called 'Orunodoi'. The scheme that has been launched ahead of the assembly elections in the state, aims to cover over 22 lakh families. Under the scheme, the government will transfer Rs 830 per month to the account of one of the female members of the family. At present, there are 17 lakh beneficiary families.
