The Bombay High Court has said that a stranger or acquaintance, who is not a relative by blood, marriage or adoption, can not be named an accused in domestic violence case under section 498 A of IPC. The court said this while dismissing the FIR filed against relatives of a husband and a woman mediator from Nanded district. The relatives and the woman mediator were booked after accusations of domestic violence by the wife.
