As the Taliban continues to capture key provinces and strip women and children of their rights, Canada has decided to resettle as many as 20,000 refugees from Afghanistan. Immigration minister Marco Mendicino announced the expansion of the program to resettle refugees while adding that priority will be given to vulnerable groups. “Our efforts focus on those who are particularly vulnerable, including women leaders," Mendicino said.
