Central Vista Project will "save money" paid as rent: Centre tells Supreme Court

The Centre today responded to the petitions raising questions over the Central Vista Project in the Supreme Court. The centre said the decision to build a new parliament was not a decision taken in a jiffy and the project will "save money" which is paid as rent for housing Central government ministries. Solicitor general Tushar Mehta told the court that "thousands of crores in rent is paid for housing central government ministries."
