China govt calls for an end to extremely expensive wedding gifts

The Chinese govt is planning for a “comprehensive reform” of the countries increasingly expensive weddings. The ministry has said that weddings have become 'rampant money worship' where the bride prices and overall costs of weddings have shot the sky. Changing the wedding customs could be difficult according to the researchers. The govt is trying to cut down the expensive gifts and said instead of pricey cars or house.
