China increases defence budget by 6.8% to $209 billion

After the recent disengagement with the Indian troops along the line of actual control, China has increased the military budget by 6.8 percent to $209 billion. The hike in the defence budget was announced by Le Keqiang, the premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China. Keqiang said the hike in the defence budget was to strengthen the national defence and was not aimed at threatening any country.
