China to ban single-use plastic by the end of 2022
China, one of the world's biggest users of plastic, has announced a big plan to reduce single-use plastics in future. Non-degradable bags will now be banned in major cities by the end of 2020 and throughout the country by 2022. China has been struggling to handle the rubbish its 1.4 billion citizens throw out. Its largest rubbish dump - sizes around 100 football fields - is already full, 25 years ahead of schedule.
