The ICMR has reconfirmed that the deadly coronavirus has a higher rate of transmission between close contacts and hence public health measures like social distancing, personal hygiene and infection control are essential to prevent its spread. The apex body stressed that the strategy to trace and test close contacts is crucial for early identification and isolation of positive patients to prevent community transmission.
