The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has now removed the Rs 4500 cap on the COVID-19 test and has now passed on the power to decide the cost of the test to the states. This means the cost of the COVID-19 test which used to be Rs 4500, will be brought down considerably. The ICMR also said in its decision that the states can now procure the test kits at a mutually agreeable price from private labs.
