COVID-19: India extends the use of HCQ while WHO temporarily halts HCQ trial for treatment

India has extended the use of anti-malarial drug hydroxychloroquine for the preventive treatment of COVID-19. However, the international health agency WHO has temporarily paused the use of HCQ for COVID-19 treatment. The WHO chief Tedros tweeted that the executive group has implemented a temporary pause of HCQ within the solidarity trial as the data is being reviewed by the Data Safety monitoring board.
