Arun Kumar, the Director-General of Civil Aviation said that the pilots of the aircraft that crashed in Kozhikode on Friday were alerted about the bad weather in the area. He added that the ATC also told the pilots about the tailwinds, which, however, were "within permissible limits". "The call has to be taken by the commander to go around or to land," Mr. Kumar said. The aircraft was broken into two after the accident.
