7000 frontline personnel of India’s defence are often at the highest risk of death and their DNA will be stored at a profile facility in the Department of Forensic Science and Toxicology, Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune. These samples will be preserved with barcodes and under extreme security and if needed DNA profiles will be generated to confirm if a soldier has been killed in action.
