According to the intelligence sources, China started building up its military presence along the line of actual control after facing a setback in Doklam in 2017. "PLA has developed over 20 of these military camps in their depth areas close to the LAC and is using these bases for helping in operations on the LAC," sources claimed. China had to step back from the construction of a road on Bhutan's territory after India's objection.
