Egyptian court sentences activist to 18 months in prison for 'spreading false news'

Prominent activist Sanaa Seif has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for 'spreading false news' by a court. The Cairo Court held Seif responsible for broadcasting false news that would cause panic. The case is related to the false allegation of the spread of the coronavirus in prisons and misuse of social media sites. The activist was held in June 2019. Sanaa is the sister of prominent activist Alaa Abdel Fattah.
