As two civilians died in the clashes that erupted between the Assam Police and villagers over an eviction drive, the situation remains tense. An eye witness revealed that some villagers in the state's Dholpur area attacked security personnel with stones and sticks, forcing the police to resort to violence. The deceased have been identified as Saddam Hussain and Sheikh Forid. Nine cops were injured in the clashes.
