Maki Kaji, the man dubbed as the "father of Sudoku" for his role in popularising the brainteaser game, passed away at 69 due to cancer. "Mr. Kaji was known as the father of Sudoku and was loved by puzzle fans all around the world," Nikoli said. The publisher said Kaji died at home on August 10 after battling cancer. The publisher further added that a memorial service would be held at a later date.
