A new study finds evidence of ancient humans called Denisovans found outside Denisova cave in Tibet. A Denisovan genome was sequenced in 2012. Tibetans & Sherpas have a genetic variant that helps them live in low oxygen at high altitudes, which can be traced back to Denisovans. The jawbone was well-preserved & featured a primitive shape as well as a large molar that was still attached. The discovery shows that they lived in Asia.
