Fitch Ratings lowers India growth forecast to 0.8% in 2020-21 amid coronavirus outbreak

The coronavirus pandemic has not only affected the health and lives of people but economy as well, and giving proof of the same, Fitch Ratings slashed India's economic growth projection to 0.8% in the current 2020-21 fiscal year. Earlier on April 3, Fitch Ratings had projected a GDP growth rate of 2% for India in financial year 2021. The latest estimate comes after govt extended lockdown till May 3.
