From 30 Million cases to 0; China is finally Malaria free

Following a decades-long campaign that lowered an estimated yearly toll of 30 million cases in the 1940s to zero in 2017, including 300,000 deaths, the World Health Organization proclaimed China malaria-free today. Along the way to breaking the malaria parasite transmission cycle between Anopheles mosquitoes and humans, China developed novel surveillance techniques, medicines, and technologies.
