The Supreme Court on Tuesday directed the centre to decide on providing a permanent commission to women officers in the armed forces under the Short Service Commission (SSC) before 2019. The Army has notified permanent commission to all the women officers who joined the forces after March 2019. A bench led by justice DY Chandrachud said it does not women want fighting in the courts to get absorbed in the Indian Army to be left out.
